easter evangelistic skit by the ymca, held at St andrew’s cathedral grounds.
the entire skit reflected the exact same truth; we are led to think that our prized trophy is that which prove that we are approved, accepted and recognised by people-until everything fizzles out and we come to realise how empty we really are.
achievments, acknowledgement, approval, acceptance, success, you name it- they will not last.
there will come a time where people will fail you as well! even the ones you are closest to-they will disppoint you at some time in your life.and heck,it’s gonna hurt you real bad la.what will you do then? throw in the towel? or persist to a point where you are driven to the edge? then what’s next? are you gonna take the plunge and drown in your sorrow? like it or not,we are on a constant search for L.O.V.E. a Life that is full of Opportunity, secure in Victory, and lasts for Eternity.and the disappointing thing is that because we fail to look to Jesus , we get everything except for that which is eternal! and so things begin to fall apart, and we are forced to re-examine our options.
youth service at COOS; after talking about it for about a year. hah!
pastor glenn ended his series on knowing god with the third installment titled- god’s value
‘for where your treasure is,there your heart will be also’
‘the kingdom of god is like treasure hidden in a field.when a man found it,he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all that he had and bought that field.Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls.when he found one of great value,he want away and sold everything he had and bought it.’ Matthew 13:44-46
when you place great value on something, you sacrifice and go to great lengths just to get it,because you know its gonna be worth the effort, the process.when we place our value in anything besides god we are ‘building our houses on sand’ subject to storm and floods- it will all come crashing down eventually.when we learn to value god,’we build our houses on rock’ and that’s deffinitely gonna hold out even in the fiercest storm.
there are three possibe scenarios la.
1) god decides not to allow the circumstance to happen
2) god changes the circumstance
3) god allows the circumstance to happen but he changes you.
when god allows our cirumstances to shake us up, it is a call for us to re-align our value system. when we learn to value god,our hearts are turned to him-and I think that certainly pleases our commander!
does your value system place greater worth in god,or in the things of this world?sometimes even in the name of sreving god we place greater importance in the things tht we do thn god himself.
‘for whoever wants to save his life will lose it,but whoever loses his life for me will find it.what good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?’ matthew 16:25-26
learn to value the right things in life,so that in death you will inherit the kingdom of god.
