service today really hit home
! Ps doug talked about FEAR, and it is indeed something that many of us struggle with in our walk with christ. even for non-believers, fear is but a common struggle. one that strikes every so often and robs us of our courage, our confidence, our sense of self worth … fear cripples us! to live in the shadow of fear blinds our judgement and distorts our mental picture of what is right ,and what is unacceptable to god.

fear is nothing more than faith in the wrong thing.
pause to think about this phrase for a momment. what’s it really trying to say?

what causes us to fall from god’s glory back into the lives of sin and darkness that we’d used to lead before we acknowledged god’s reign in our lives?

the devil’s grasp and knowledge of god’s word surpasses that of ours, that’s something that we cannot deny! this is why we need to constantly fall back on god’s word beyond just difficult and trying times, but in routine situations as well. beyond that there is also a need for prayer! An active prayer life serves as a buoy to help us stay afloat when the devil attempts to bring us down with his lies. The only thing the devil is capable of is perversing what god already is. satan is a liar, and you know it. lies are but a distortion of the truth, nothing more. and satan is certainly fully aware of that, which is why our spiritual flame fizzles out should we not be aware to a certain extent of god’s truths and promises and be prayerfully alert!

‘because those who are led by the spirit of god are sons of god. for you did not receive a spirit that makes you again a slave to fear, but you received a spirit of sonship’ romans 8:14-15

in receiving god’s spirit into our lives, we have been released from the captivity of fear, and we are called to be sons of god, not captives of fear.let’s take ourselves back to this phrase.
‘fear is nothing more than faith in the wrong thing’
since all of us whether we like it or not have a certain level of faith, why not choose to invest it in the right thing and reap the fullness of god’s blessings for your life? for we are investing our faith not in something that once existed, ceased to exist, or never even existed, but in a god that
EXISTS and is very much alive in the hearts of YOU and I !
faith establishes a man.

its not easy to live without fear, that certainly goes without saying.

In today’s society people are constantly driven closer to what is eventually a dead end by trends they can never keep up with, desires they can never satisfy, needs they can never fufill, expectations they can never meet… they are just pushed to live in fear of this cruel and punishing pace and they do things they never thought they’d do. they compromise their standards when they realise that their stand is jeopardized.and yet, beneath it all lie the cries of people for the void in their hearts to be filled, that someone will come to pick up the pieces and give them a fresh start in life. a life that is without fear(except that of god la,duh! haha) and a life that is victorious, above their sins and their fears and failures.
and I tell you today that god is most certainly able to do that for you!

another thing that reached deep into my heart was that about acknowledging that nothing you have in this world is really yours! NOTHING! not even your body! in acknowledging that all we really have in this world is god, our hearts are entirely focused on HIM and this allows the fullness of god’s blessings and the entirety of his work to be established in our lives! god tells us that it is a choice for us to allow oursleves to be used by HIM, and in so doing it is the love for HIM and the respect for who HE is that compels us to surrender all that we have even if it hurts us. it is because of my love for god that I can surrender the things I hold on so closely to,and at the same time trust that when HE calls for me to surrender,HE knows fully what’s best for me and by his plan,in his will and according to his timing, things will work out for the good of those who love and seek HIM with all their heart! this ties in also with what was discussed at cell last evening, submissiveness. If you know who it is that you are surrendering to, will it not be that much easier to say,’god, all that I am and all that I have is yours, take them and do with them as you please.’? faith involves an element of risk,a fear of the unknown. what if god really doesn’t exist? what if all this eventually amounts to nothing? well …
you’re like an eagle who has grown up in a chicken’s nest! hahaha. you always knew that something was different about you. that there were greater things than all of this in life for you, but you just don’t see it. in your heart, you know you are an eagle, but you just cant find it in you. now you‘ve found your place back into the eagle’s nest. but you still feel like a chicken.you have a choice. If you do not jump from the nest and stretch your wings to fly… all your life all you’ll ever be is a chicken! so yeah. there you have it… :D unless you take that step out, god cant take
that step forward either.take a step out in faith, and god will run a thousand steps toward you.

soldiers of the cross, be without fear in the face of the enemy. This is my prayer for all of you. (;
in YOU o god,Your promises are ever so clear.
In YOU o god, I shall be without fear.
